Lego Ring

In celebration of The Lego movie, in theatres now, I thought I would put together a cute and simple, Lego-inspired craft. In looking through my small, Lego collection, I discovered the coolest-looking. Lego guy I have ever seen! This guy's awesomeness is three-fold, really. 1. He wears a monacle, 2. His mustache is bigger than the rest of his face, and 3. Two words...Peg! Leg! As soon as I saw him, I knew I needed to use him.

Using a strong epoxy (in my case, 9001), I placed a small amount of glue onto a ring base and glued the back of the Lego man to the base.
The ring will need about 24 hours to dry completely, but that is all you need to do! A perfect accessory for the movie and for funsies whenever you feel like it!

"Let's Stick Together" Valentines

While I am grateful that my hubby and I are able to save money by not having to pay for childcare for Claire Bear (I work days as a teacher and he works nights and Saturdays in a restaurant), I am TOTALLY bummed (craft nerd alert) that she has no little daycare friends she can share valentines with! I currently can't stop browsing all of the adorable, valentines on the web and have brainstormed about a dozen ideas of my own; but, alas, I won't be trying all of them out on dozens of little munchkins and must narrow down those ideas to Claire's five cousins, which we will send in the mail, as none of them are local (sad face). Good thing she is only 1 1/2 and really couldn't care less about how awesome her mom's handmade valentines are, haha! Its the thought that counts...

Here are the valentines I made for Claire's girl cousins using some super fun Velcro rings and ball party favors I recently picked up.

Materials:

-Velcro ring and ball party favors (I found mine at my local dollar store)
-printer/paper
-scissors
-cardstock
-double-sided tape
Instructions:

1. Print out Valentine messages HERE
2. Cut out heart and adhere to cardstock in color of your choice. Trim cardstock to your liking
3. Use scissors or Exacto kmife to cut 2" slit in the middle of the card
4. Insert Velcro ring into the slit. Place tape on the back of the card to adhere.

How To: Decorate a Ring

Here's a SUPER easy project for anyone to try:

Materials:
-Craft glue (I use E6000)
-metal ring base (usually can be found at any craft store)
-large bead (or any craft item you'd like to wear as a piece of jewelry; in my case, I used a flat, turquoise bead)
Example of a ring base used for this project
 Instructions:
1. Squeeze a dime-sized drop of craft glue onto the bead
2. Place the center of the ring base onto the glue to adhere
3. Allow the glue to dry overnight (keep the ring bead-side down to allow to dry appropriately)
4. Enjoy!!!
