Mickey Mouse Gift Bucket

My sweet nephew, Royce is obsessed (actually...what do you call the level beyond obsessed??? He's that!) with Mickey Mouse and the entire Clubhouse gang, so I knew I would need to theme his birthday gift accordingly. After purchasing Mickey-themed letters to spell his name and making him a Toodles pillow, I just needed a container in which to put these gifts. I found a cute, red bucket at the Dollar Tree and jazzed it up using felt and a low-temp, glue gun to make a personalized, Mickey Mouse gift container that can be used again and again! I'm also including a printable for you to use to make one of your very own. Here's how...

Materials

-red bucket

-printable template

-straight pins

-yellow, black and white felt sheets

-fabric scissors

-low-temp glue gun-glue sticks

-adhesive felt letters

Instructions

1. Print out template, cut out shapes and pin to coordinating felt sheets

2. Using a low-temp glue gun, glue buttons to the middle of the bucket, about an inch apart.

3. Glue feet to the bottom of the bucket so that they are sticking out about 3" beyond the bucket

4. Glue ears to top of bucket so that 3-4" of felt stick up above the bucket

5. Adhere letters to top rim of bucket. Using a black, permanent marker, draw four "button holes" in the middle of each button.

From start to finish, this project took me about 20 minutes. How awesome is that?!?! Enjoy!

$4 Dollar Tree Craft-Magnetic Room Sign

As most of you know (or have read), I am OBSESSED with The Dollar Tree and using random objects I find there to create fabulous crafts! Here is a tutorial for a magentic room sign using Dollar Tree items totalling $4!! Eat your heart out, crafters on a budget!

Materials:

-Metal serving tray-$1
-magnetic letters (x2)-2 for $1 special
-fabric, pencil holder-$1
-ribbon-$1
-glue gun/sticks
-felt scraps
-scissors

Instructions:

1. Using a glue gun, glue the ends of a 5" piece of ribbon to the back of the top of a metal serving tray for hanging. Cut out and glue small, felt pieces on top of the ribbon ends.

2. Hot glue the pencil case to the bottom of the serving tray so that the zipper of the case faces the wall when hanging

3. After creating a message with magnetic letters, zip the remaining letters in the pencil case for future use!

Children's Magnetic Bedroom Message Board

This is a really cute and SUPER easy project to make yourself for a child’s room, or have your child make it! I found really nice rectangular and oval metal serving trays at Dollar Tree that I decided to use as the base of the room sign. Using about nine inches of ribbon, I used a hot glue gun to glue the ends of the ribbon about four inches apart on the back of the serving tray. I then cut a piece of felt to fit the back of the serving tray and glued it (to avoid leaving marks on the wall). While you could easily purchase magnetic letters, I happened to have a ton of foam letters leftover from a project I had completed ages ago, so I put magnetic pieces on the backs of those letters to use on the room sign, instead. The magnetic letters can be moved around to say whatever message the child wants to state.

Wooden Name Nursery Decor

As soon as my brother and sister-in-law decided on a name for their baby-to-be, we took a little trip to Pat Catan’s, our local craft store here in Pittsburgh (which, I might add, is the BEST!) and immediately bought 4” letters to spell “CAMDYN.” Knowing that the baby’s room would be pink and green, we alternated pastel pink and green paint on each of the letters and created polka dots in the opposing colors then glued ribbon to the backs of each letter to hang on Camdyn’s wall.

Note: There are some AWESOME circular sponge brushes at most craft stores that are FABULOUS for polka dots and such (especially for people like me who can't draw a symmetrical shape of ANY sort on my own)!

Last Name Letter Frames

In case the letters in the frames aren’t clear, they spell “EYER” aka-my last name. I found this idea on another crafter’s blog, in which the letters “E,” “A,” and “T” were placed in frames and hung from a dowel rod in the kitchen. While this was one of the most adorable and charming ideas I have seen in a long time, my kitchen was already filled with décor and no room to spare, so I decided to put a spin on it in order to  dress up my empty walls instead. Using Google Images, I found some cool-looking versions of each of the letters of my last name. After copying and pasting these letters into a Word document, I resized them to fit the four 4x 6 frames I purchased at a dollar store and placed them vertically on our wall next to our wedding photo.
